Scarborough artist Garry Herridge has made many friends through art

Art Guild of Scarborough members are regularly featured on toronto.com
As a retired art teacher for the Toronto District School Board, drawing has always been my major love, but in 1982, I began working in watercolour.
I now belong to The Toronto Watercolour Society, as well as the Pine Ridge Arts Council and am a former member of the Don Valley Art Club and Association of Canadian Equine Artists and Supporters. I have been fortunate to win awards from these fine organizations and have made many friends there.
However, my favourite group is still the Art Guild of Scarborough. I look forward to its weekly meetings and the spring, fall and Arthur shows each year. I have had the pleasure of serving as president of this great organization, with its many wonderful members, for the past six years. We’ve had good times together including a trip to Chicago to visit the Art Institute, and another to Washington for the opening day of an Andrew Wyeth show at The National Gallery.
However, now that I have retired as president my wife and I will be able to travel more frequently to visit our daughter’s family in London, England … with some possible side trips to Cuba as well.
Gerry Herridge is a member of the Art Guild of Scarborough. Each month an artist member of the Guild is featured on toronto.com. To learn more about the group visit www.theartguildofscarborough.com or facebook.com/theartguildofscarborough.
